Wednesday Is Flabob Day.

Yes, the name of the airport is indeed Flabob (RIR).  It is in Riverside, California, and if you want to take a trip to an airport that got lost in time, this is the place.  It really has not changed much since it was founded in 1925.

In addition to ever being remembered by one of its famous owners, Flavio Madariaga (the FLA in the airport name, the BOB part belonging to co-owner, Bob Bogen) the airport is the original home of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and Chaper Number 1 (founded in 1954) is indeed alive and well on the field.

And, the airport cafe is pretty darn good, too.

Photo is from one of the numerous dinner flights in the shop Cessna 140 bug-smasher we used to take out after working on Gulfstreams all day.
